Meet Taijuan Moorman, Columbus Dispatch business reporter

Why did I become a journalist?

I enjoy getting to know people, seeing the world through their eyes, and learning who they are and why they do what they do. I consider it a privilege to be able to help people tell their stories and share their perspectives.

What do I like best about my job?

I love covering restaurants and retail. Columbus has a booming restaurant industry and we’re continuing to see more cuisine from international cultures, which is exciting. I also love shopping (to my own detriment), so retail is a fun beat for me as well.

A story I have worked on that has had a lasting impact on me

I covered civic issues at another local publication for a few years, and covered the aftermath of the George Floyd protests in 2020, even taking an angle on art coming out of the protests. For the Dispatch, a story I covered recently that has had a lasting impact on me was about two restaurant owners and the incredible journeys to opening their first brick-and-mortar businesses.
