Chamber hosts annual street fair Sunday
The Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce will host its 48th annual Carlsbad Village Street Faire from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday in the epicenter of downtown Carlsbad Village (State Street and Grand Avenue). The fair will feature more than 800 unique vendors, offering a range of local and international artisan goods, apparel, accessories, antiques, a food court, beer garden, and live entertainment. The beer garden is returning this season, featuring local brewers Blue Fire Brewing. The beer garden will be in the Roosevelt Food Court and will be serving from 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Parking is extremely limited, and visitors are encouraged to use the shuttles located at The Shoppes at Carlsbad and the Poinsettia Train Station. Free Cinco de Mayo event at shopping center
Celebrate Cinco de Mayo at a free event from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Piazza Carmel open-air shopping center. Mariachi La Perla will perform during the event at the Food Court. Golf tournament to benefit PAL, CCAE
The Escondido Chamber of Commerce hosts its 24th annual Chamber Challenge Golf Tournament on Friday at The Vineyard at Escondido. Proceeds will benefit the California Center for the Arts and the Escondido Police Athletic League. SDG&E offers rebate for planting
Qualifying San Diego Gas & Electric customers can get a rebate for planting or potting eligible trees and plants. The trees planted will help beautify local communities, but they’ll also support cleaner air and native biodiversity. Qualifying SDG&E customers can receive a $35 rebate for planting or potting a 1- or 5-gallon tree/plant species. Customers can apply for up to five rebates annually. Customers do not need a yard to qualify, as trees or other plant species can be planted in large containers on outdoor balconies or patio areas. This program is designed for customers in parts of SDG&E’s service territory where trees may be needed to help improve the community. Company donates dog-waste stations
Skout’s Honor, which curates environmentally and socially conscious pet essentials, recently teamed with Oceanside’s Goat Hill Park Golf Course to help keep things clean. The company donated four “pick up after your dog” waste stations to help maintain and keep the grounds clean and beautiful. The four Skout’s Honor-branded waste stations have been installed at various locations around Goat Hill, with signs that encourage pet parents/golfers to pick up after their pets. Clinic earns public health award
Vista Community Clinic was recently selected as a recipient of the 2022 Live Well San Diego 21st annual Public Health Champion Award. The clinic was recognized for its efforts to lessen the negative patient outcomes of COVID-19 within our community.
