The private equity titans topping FN’s Fifty Most Influential in Sustainable Finance list

1 of 15

Amid a debate over the merits of ESG and the financial sector’s role in tackling climate change, the label has become mired in controversy. HSBC Asset Management’s responsible investment head Stuart Kirk was suspended after suggesting investors shouldn’t worry about environmental issues. A raid on asset manager DWS over greenwashing allegations led to the resignation of the Deutsche Bank unit’s boss. Meanwhile, Elon Musk and Peter Thiel have also criticised the sector.
Yet the financial services industry has spent years — as well as billions of dollars — on sustainability hiring and strategy. It is a sign that ESG isn’t going away any time soon. That’s why FN decided now is the time to celebrate the people driving change at their firms and the wider industry.
FN sister title Private Equity News has selected its pick of 14 leaders across the buyout sector that feature in FN’s inaugural list of 50 leaders in sustainable finance.
