U.S. Stocks Rise as Powell Testifies to Congress

U.S. stocks advanced in morning trading after major indexes rallied to start the trading week, as recent volatility in markets showed few signs of abating.

The S&P 500 was recently up about 0.3%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average added 0.1%, or about 40 points. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite rose 0.7%. All three indexes were down in early morning trading Wednesday.
